Abandoned in a War Zone

All over, in the North and the East – the ‘war zones’ of the civil war that blighted the lives of generations of the island’s people – are confronting images of abandoned buildings:  homes, schools, temples, churches, pulverised by mortar and artillery fire, or pitted with gunshot.  I tried not to make a thing of it, but even tidied up, these testaments to death and despair demanded some representation among my memories of Sri Lanka.

There was one house, in Jaffna

that told a slightly different story

No sense editorialising, you all know what I feel – belated response to last week’s Abandoned challenge, which I started trying to post for Threes, the week before that!
