Some curves are luscious, and rightly famous – Marilyn Munroe’s for instance, or the warm marble grace of the Winged Victory of Samothrace – others are a little more difficult to discern, like my own budding pre-pubescent voluptuousness (which it seemed only I could see!). Then there are the androgynous curves of the tree in the long gored skirt.
Every time I walk into the Paradise Road Cafe this angular sophisticate makes me laugh. Follow me here: imagine her, standing aloof from the throng, hips and one knee thrust forward, model-like, sparkling bangles over long kid gloves – beyond the elbows – a cigarette in an equally long bone holder in one hand, champagne teetering in the other, hair ornaments and extravagant chandelier earrings …, and so one day out came the camera.
The architect and style guru, Geoffrey Bawa, had a bit of a fetish for old Chinese export pots and started a collection – echoes of which still adorn the courtyards of the Cafe – once his offices. While we’re on curvaceous inanimates, here’s a little sampling:
Weekend Photo Challenge – Curves.
Love your tree, love your imagination!
That tree is incredible!
Very nice! Loved them all
I love to imagine your tree dancing and swirling around a ballroom 🙂
Lots of curves, both real and imagined. The pots are especially lovely.
Beautiful tree in the long gored skirt, elegant pottery curves! I’m following your imagination… 🙂 Love this post!
That is a very sexy tree indeed!
The tree is wonderful. I can imagine the hair ornaments, bangles on her arms and ears. I hope they dress her up during the Christmas holidays. Lovely post full of curves.
It is fairly common for some comics to show photos of trees in the most suggestive of poses, be they from weirdly positioned limbs, oddly shaped knots, or misshapen trunks. Never, though, have I seen a tree so normal but yet so provocative, at the same instant. Very nice capture. 🙂
Reblogged this on techbeautyblog.
What an imaginative way to look at the tree for sure WG! Love it! Those Chinese pots are beautiful for sure! Great entry for the challenge. 😀 *hugs*
I love the pots, and the tree that looks like a snake

You certainly nailed the curves! I can totally picture the tree in the long gown swaying on the dance floor of days gone by.
Yes, that long gored skirt is beautiful. I would love to see the person you described. 🙂 Great set of photos for the theme.
I’ve never looked at a tree as having a shpae but these photos are showing me that they do have contour. The first one could be the shape of a woman. I love this entry. Thanks for posting.
Some model you had there!
Love the glinting curves too. 🙂
Ha, I like this even better if that were possible! Almost expect her to swing a foot out in a seductive Tango pose 🙂
Wonderful image! Makes me smile! I have heard of tree spirits, and this one is particularly captivating.
There it was! How could others have missed it?
Oh, I think a few people saw her – she stands inconveniently close to the building, if they’d not noticed our diva I think she might have been ‘moved’!
We vote for naming her Rita.
