In A Whale of a Celebration, I posted a gallery of shots I took during a morning off the Sunshine Coast watching whales heading south to their Antarctic feeding grounds.
The experience was a gift – one of the most wonderful experiences of my life – and a total surprise. I thought, to round out the day, I’d post a photograph my hostess took, of us and a whale – there’s me, white sunglasses pushed back – the one without a camera to my eye.
Are you the one in the water?
Almost 🙂
Awesome!
It was – and what a wonderful surprise 🙂
Awesome shot! 🙂

You may be the one with the best memories of the event. I think when people are so focused on “getting the photos,” they often miss the experience entirely.
Can almost see the surprised smile wrapped around your face all the way from front to back! What a wonderful surprise!
Whale watching trips are so fun! I mean you know they’re big, but until you’re out there on the water and in their space you don’t really appreciate how BBBBBIIIIIIIIIIIIGGGGGGGGGG big really is! 🙂
Happy Holidays to you!

How wonderful. It was so close, and spyhopping to check you all out. The Alaska humpbacks are here in Hawaii now. I really should go on a whale-watching cruise. Lucky you. What a neat surprise.
Your “Whale of a celebration’ is my all time favourite post! That is one experience very high on my bucket list.
I’m overjoyed to hear that Madhu! I agree it deserves to be on one’s bucket list – Writecrites says the Alaska humpbacks are in Hawaii now. I’ll certainly be saving to take myself out again once I eventually get back to Oz (thinking I won’t go till after Easter now … 🙂 )
You are so lucky to have them come so close and personal. My whale watching a few years back only saw them in the distance and I thought that was pretty awesome, what a fantastic close up you got
Wow!!. This is my next travel. My next dream.
What a wonderful experience, Wanderlust. I am truly envious. Beautiful pictures!

I would love to see whales that close in their natural habitat. Must help to put things in perspective I should think. One day ….
we do not have any whales in our continental forest neighborhood – so be happy!
Poor you – trapped in a forest. When I was a kid, growing up in Australia, we lived inland – almost 1,000km from the coast – so I know what you mean 🙂
